A last, short rehearsal for this Saturday's party was followed by a rather short-lived try-out of Acoustic Crew. Needless to say perhaps, but it wasn't successful: Wrecking Crew is definitely an electric band!
We then spent some time rehearsing our latest song 'At The Gates' surprisingly influenced by a band of the same name
An unexpected impediment of our singer Johan was quickly grasped to continue the work on our song #6, or what we also call 'The Hit'. We also had a visit of a photographer whose work you can see on this site...
Usually we have a somewhat less-motivated rehearsal after a gig, but not this time! We played all 5 of our new songs like there was no tomorrow, and worked on number 6, which doesn't have a title as of yet. It's shaping up nicely I think, and sounds quite like a hit
It's not that we haven't been busy these last weeks, but rehearsals are continuing in a great way and every week has been a blast. The choice of songs for our setlist is sure to fire up the crowd next week - we've even added another new song! So you'll be hearing no less than five (5!) new songs. See ya next week!!
To illustrate just how fast we're working: new song 'Clairvoyancy' was only written a couple of weeks ago, but already yesterday evening we finished it, complete with vocals and all. It'll be one of the 10 songs in our setlist, which will contain 3 other new songs. And yes, we now have a workable setlist... not telling though
Johan just keeps writing - faster than we can deliver the songs haha! We haven't decided on the order of the songs yet, but what songs will be on the setlist is more and more clear. Expect a few surprises...
Well, what can I say? Things are going great the last couple of weeks! There's a real new drive and sense of purpose in the band. We've arranged our debut with Johan - of course in the Brothers of Beer. We're almost at 10 songs for the setlist now...
A somewhat shorter, but definitely very productive rehearsal last night. New songs 'Fake', 'Shades of Grey' and 'Believer/Deceiver' sound terrific, can't wait to play them live! Even very new song 'Clairvoyancy' looks like it's going to be included in the setlist...
Rehearsals are going great the last few weeks, Johan is settling really well within the band. He just needs to work on his card game...
Bram has had several great new ideas, one is a song called 'Clairvoyancy', and with the addition of yet another new song we now have 10 songs or "workable collections of riffs" as I like to call them
. Working on a setlist now...Due to some unfortunate planning Remco couldn't be there, but the rest of us worked hard on new and old songs. 'Open Fire' is still a killer song and Johan really makes it his own. His voice is definitely rougher than Nico's and it's exactly what we need. 'Torquemada' will be an older song we've never performed live, and new songs 'Fake' and 'Shades of Grey' will surely get some metalheads moving. Can't wait to get out there!
Another fine rehearsal with the complete band. The songs are getting better and better, so gigs in the spring are very likely. More new lyrics too, now for a song called 'Fake'. We're getting there.
A quiet evening with just the three of us, but Buks did bring his bass and even made up some new and interesting basslines, especially for 'How Close'. We'll see what Remco makes of it!
The first rehearsal with Johan was a very enjoyable experience. He tried his hand at 'Open Fire', and got it right at the third try. It now sounds really great, and you can be sure we'll put it in our setlist. Also 'Torquemada' will be an "old" song we're going to try and play live - which will be the first time ever for us!
Johan had also written lyrics for a new song, which is now called 'Shades of Grey' - this will be a killer live, definitely. 'Believer/Deceiver' is the next new song we're trying to finish soon.
And there it was again: at one point we were with 11 people in our small rehearsal room. And yes, it got really hot and sweaty! But it was tremendous fun too, oh and of course we played the best versions of the songs on the setlist. Will this Saturday be comparable? Let's hope so!
Next week the first rehearsal of Wrecking Crew in the new line-up where we'll tackle 'Believer/Deceiver' and 'Shades of Grey', as well as a couple of old songs...
Another splendid evening of 3 hours of the greatest hardrock and heavy metal covers, and most of you weren't there! You'll get your chance the 28th though
. So now I'm wondering how hot and sweaty it'll get next week, with 10 people in our small rehearsal room. Lisa will come round for photos, so you'll get the evidence soon.Starting off with the new song ideas we recorded two weeks ago, we quickly got into a nice middle part sequence which isn't necessarily for the same song. At the end of the evening we used an old-fashioned magnetic tape cassette to store our new ideas and decided Bram should be the one to put them into Cubase.
And so he did. Good man.
